Jewish Jerusalem – The Old City
(On Foot)
Mt. Zion – Burial Site of King David
City of David – First Temple Jerusalem (3000 years ago) including David's Palace/Fortress and King Hezekiah's Water Tunnel
Davidson Center and Ophel – Museum and Walking Tour of recent archeological excavations, most from the Second Temple period (2000 years ago) and destruction in 70 CE
The Kotel or Western Wall – Plaza and prayer center for Jewish worship in the shadow of where the Temple once stood
Western Wall Tunnels – An underground walk along the length of the Western Wall built by King Herod
Lunch – generally in the Jewish Quarter where there is a wide variety of restaurants featuring falafel, shwarma, pizza, coffee shops, etc.
Burnt House/Herodian Quarter – Second Temple period archeological dig of Jerusalem's priestly quarter from the time of the Roman destruction – audio/visual included
Cardo - Walking Tour through the "heart" of the Roman/Byzantine pagan city Alea Capitolina after Jerusalem was again destroyed after the Bar Kokhva revolt (132 CE)
1948 War of Independence – A short walk and survey of the battle for the Jewish Quarter over sixty years ago and its subsequent surrender to Jordanian forces
Note – Christian sites can be covered throughout Jerusalem, in particular the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, involving a ten minute walk from the Jewish Quarter.
The Galilee – Ancient and Modern

Tzippori National Park and Archeological Dig – Known for its world famous mosaics this is the town where Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi codified the Mishna and built the legal foundations for continued Jewish existence in the Diaspora. A walking tour of at least two hours includes an understanding of ancient agriculture and the pluralistic lifestyle of Tzippori's residents 1800 years ago.
Lunch – Upon arrival in Tzfat after an hour long drive there is a choice of falafel, shwarma, pizza, coffee shops, etc.
Kabbalistic City of Tzfat – Walking tour commencing at the citadel at the top of the mount overlooking the city. Descending into the Jewish Quarter we review the history of the city over the past 2000 years yet concentrate on the Golden age in the 16th century when the great Kabbalist (Mystic) Rabbi Yitzhak Luria (the ARI) lived here beside the great Halachist (Legalist) Rabbi Yosef Karo. Visits to the Ari Ashkenazi and Abuhav synagogues at the least as we walk through the alleyways. Time for shopping in the artists colony.
Masada and the Judean Desert
(Vehicle Necessary)
Masada – Famous desert fortress where the Zealots made their last stand against Rome after the destruction of the Second Temple. Either use the cable car or hike up (even for sunrise).
Nahal David or Nahal Arugot Nature Reserve – Take a short hike and stream stomp in the desert while cooling off in fresh water pools
Dead Sea – Take a dip in the Dead Sea where salt and mineral concentrations are so high one floats

Central Negev – Where ideology becomes reality in touring Israel's first Prime Minister's David Ben Gurion's home at Kibbutz Sde Boker and visiting his gravesite. A walk in the Ein Avdat stream and a survey of the ancient Nabatean city of Avdat where desert nomads settled down and built a flourishing community
